Fred Pleasants



Charles Frederick "Fred" Pleasants, 80, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016.



Born on May 11, 1936 he was a son of the late Thomas and Mae Pleasants. In addition to his parents Fred was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Pleasants, his sister Helen Moon, and brother Dickie Pleasants and his wife Jean.



Left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Rita Pleasants of Barboursville; son, Ricky Pleasants and Tammy Shifflett of Stanardsville; sister, Polly Truslow and her husband Herbert of Nellysford; brother, Joe Pleasants...

Born on May 11, 1936 he was a son of the late Thomas and Mae Pleasants. In addition to his parents Fred was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Pleasants, his sister Helen Moon, and brother Dickie Pleasants and his wife Jean.



Left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Rita Pleasants of Barboursville; son, Ricky Pleasants and Tammy Shifflett of Stanardsville; sister, Polly Truslow and her husband Herbert of Nellysford; brother, Joe Pleasants and his wife Patsy of Alberene; and his loving grandchildren, Steve Goode of Charlottesville, Scott Goode of Elkton, Amanda Pleasants of Charlottesville, and Heather Shifflett of Stanardsville. Fred is also survived by his great grandchildren Aaron, who Fred was especially proud of for his military service, Austin, and Scotty; and, a host of other family and friends that will sorely miss him.



Fred enjoyed retired life after having worked for the University of Virginia’s Engineering School.



He was a lifelong resident of North Garden and the community will deeply miss him.



A graveside service will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Mooreland Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jake Stewart officiating.



The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at Teague Funeral Home.



The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Martha Jefferson Hospital for their loving care of Fred.
